Celestion have faithfully captured the unique tones of Mesa/Boogie’s legendary and extensive range of speaker cabinets as a collection of impulse responses. Each cabinet was loaded with a number of different Celestion speakers, carefully selected to complement each speaker cabinet and for maximum tonal variety.
Using the same painstaking recording techniques we applied to our own speaker IRs, Celestion’s team of professional sound engineers have meticulously captured the distinctive tones of 14 distinct Mesa/Boogie cabinet types, each loaded with a range of legendary Celestion speakers yielding a total of 108 distinct speaker/cabinet combinations.
All of these IRs are available together as a complete Mesa/Boogie IR collection. Alternatively each IR can be downloaded separately or curated together into four individual packs:
1. Fat Pack: Mesa/Boogie’s Widebody™ and Thiele 1×12 cabs. An IR pack created to deliver fat tones and an outsized low-end punch.
2. 4×12 Pack: These legendary Mesa/Boogie 4×12 cabs need no introduction. A pack chock full of essential Metal tones.
3. Recto Pack: Featuring the Recto 1×12 and 2×12 Horizontal extension cabs. Designed primarily for use with the Rectifier® and Mini Rectifier® heads, delivering high gain aggression and a full-bodied Mesa/Boogie tone.
4. Lone Star® Pack: All the Lone Star 1×12 and 2×12 extension cabs from Mesa/Boogie. Emphasising punch and projection combined with vintage warmth-perfect for country and Americana.
Each Mesa/Boogie cabinet impulse response has been accurately captured with the same studio-standard microphones (Royer R-121, Shure SM57 and Sennheiser MD421) in the identical six positions as our principal range of Celestion IRs – plus an additional rear mic position for the open back cabinets.
This offers 18 distinct tones for each cabinet and speaker combination, plus mic mix options. Each Mesa/Boogie cab has also been recorded with a Neumann TLM 107 room mic (in Left, Right and Stereo) for you to mix in as required and achieve your desired tone.
This range of Mesa/Boogie impulse responses are all provided in .WAV format for compatibility with the majority of DAWs and amp modellers.
